Frequently asked questions

Honest answers from a local Koh Samui operator, before you book, not after.

About KohTrip

What is KohTrip?+

KohTrip is a local travel agency offering tours, day trips, private transfers, and ferry tickets across Koh Samui and nearby islands.

How do I contact KohTrip?+

You can reach us via Live Chat or email, both available in the footer of every page. We respond fast, especially during office hours.

What languages does your team speak?+

Our staff communicates in English, Thai, and Spanish. We also use real-time translation technology that allows us to assist customers in almost any language, so don't hesitate to reach out regardless of where you're from.

Do you have an office in Koh Samui?+

Yes. Our local team operates directly on the island to ensure quality and real support for every guest, not a call centre somewhere else.

Booking & Reservations

How do I make a reservation?+

Pick your excursion, select your date and number of participants, and follow the checkout steps. Your spot is secured the moment you complete the booking, and your Online Voucher will be sent by email once confirmed by the local operator.

Will I get a booking confirmation straight away?+

Yes. The moment your booking goes through, an order confirmation lands in your inbox with all your tour details. Your pickup time arrives in a separate email, sent by the evening before your tour date at the latest — that email is your Official Online Voucher. No printing needed, just show it on your phone to your driver or guide.

How far in advance should I book?+

There is no fixed period: book as early as you can to secure your spot, because Koh Samui tours fill up easily, even in low season. Most tours accept bookings until 9:30 PM the night before. Some private tours and ATV experiences can even accommodate same-day requests — reach out via Live Chat or email and we'll check availability for you.

Can I book last-minute?+

Yes, depending on availability. For same-day bookings, contact our support team directly via Live Chat or email.

Can I book a tour as a gift for someone else?+

Yes. Simply enter the recipient's details during checkout — name, email, and any relevant participant information. The Online Voucher will be sent to whichever email address you provide.

Can I change my booking after payment?+

You can reschedule depending on tour availability. Contact our support team at least 24 hours in advance — same-day changes are not covered under the free cancellation window.

Payments & Pricing

What payment options are available when booking?+

Credit Card (via Stripe), PayPal, and Bank Transfer online. Many excursions also let you lock in your spot today and pay in Thai Baht on the day of the tour, directly with the local operator, for bookings under ฿8,000.

Do Full Moon Party tickets, ferries, and transfers require prepayment?+

Yes. Full Moon Party transfers, ferry tickets, and all Transfers-section products must be paid in full at the time of booking — the "Book Now, Pay Later" option is not available for these products. Your Online Voucher is issued only after payment is confirmed, and it's required to board.

Can I pay just a deposit to secure my booking?+

We don't offer partial deposits. Many tours come with a "Book Now, Pay Later" option instead — reserve your spot today and settle the full amount in cash on the day, for bookings under ฿8,000.

Are the prices per person or per group?+

It depends on the tour. Most excursions are priced per person; private tours and boat charters typically show a per-group or per-boat base price. Always check the pricing label on the tour page.

Can I pay in my own currency?+

Our system processes international payments, converting to Thai Baht (THB) based on current exchange rates — all charges settle in THB.

Tours & Services

How do I identify private tours on the website?+

Private tours are clearly marked: the title includes the word "Private", the price is shown per group or per boat instead of per person, and the description highlights the option to choose your own start time.

Can the itinerary be changed on the day of the tour?+

Private tours are flexible — talk to your guide or driver and shape the day around what interests you most. Group (join-in) tours follow a fixed schedule; minor adjustments may still happen due to weather or traffic.

Where do I find all the details about my specific tour?+

Everything is on the tour page: the booking panel, what's included, pickup and meeting point, and a dedicated cancellation section.

Do you provide hotel pickup and drop-off?+

Most tours include hotel transfers. Pickup details are listed under each tour description.

Can you accommodate special dietary requirements?+

Yes — vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and common allergies. Mention your requirements when booking so we can inform the caterers in advance.

Are your guides licensed and English-speaking?+

Yes. All guides are licensed by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and communicate in English.

Safety & Special Needs

What safety measures are in place during tours?+

Every boat carries life jackets for all passengers, guides are licensed and experienced, weather is monitored constantly, and vehicles are regularly maintained.

Are participants covered by accident insurance?+

Yes — all participants are covered by accident insurance on every tour, a mandatory requirement under Thai law for licensed tour operators.

What happens if it rains on the day of my tour?+

Light rain alone doesn't normally cancel a tour. If our captain decides the sea or weather makes the tour unsafe, you are offered a reschedule or a full refund on any prepaid amount.

Are park entrance fees included in the tour price?+

Not always. Ang Thong Marine Park's entrance fee (฿300 adults / ฿150 children) is a government fee paid directly to park rangers in cash on the day — check the "What's not included" section before booking.

Is the tour suitable for infants, pregnant women, or elderly travellers?+

Most tours are family-friendly and children under 4 typically join free. Speedboat tours aren't recommended during pregnancy. For elderly travellers, a sailing boat or large boat is smoother than a speedboat — contact us if in doubt.

Do I need to bring my own snorkelling gear?+

No — masks and snorkels are provided on all boat trips. Fins generally aren't, to protect the reefs, though they can sometimes be rented at the pier.

Are the animal and elephant experiences ethical?+

We only work with operators who treat animals with respect. Our elephant experiences focus on observation in a natural environment — no riding, no performances.

Cancellations & Refunds

What is your cancellation policy?+

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before your tour, for a full refund. Cancelling less than 24 hours before the tour is non-refundable. No-shows and late arrivals are charged in full, no exceptions. If our captain decides the sea or weather makes the tour unsafe, you are offered a reschedule or a full refund. Full Moon Party bookings are the one exception to this rule — see below.

How do I request a refund?+

Reply to your booking confirmation email or contact us via Live Chat. Our team reviews every case and processes eligible refunds to your original payment method.

Full Moon Party

What is the cancellation policy for Full Moon Party bookings?+

Full Moon Party bookings are non-refundable and cannot be cancelled, at any time, for any reason — there is no free-cancellation window for this product. Please be certain before you book.

What happens when I arrive on Koh Phangan?+

The boat crossing takes roughly 25 minutes. Head to the official event ticket counter at the pier; the entrance fee (฿200 per person) is paid in cash on the spot and cannot be prepaid.

How does the return transfer work?+

Return boats run every hour from 1:00 AM through 5:00 AM — show your boat ticket at the Koh Phangan pier at whichever hour suits you, and your driver will be waiting at the Koh Samui side to take you home.

Is there an age restriction for the Full Moon Party?+

The event is open to guests 18 and over. Valid photo ID is required at the entrance, no exceptions.
